How interconnected the escape room scene really is – and our role in it

The escape room scene is long past being a loose collection of venues existing side-by-side. It is a highly connected, collaborative network of operators, creators, and creative minds who learn from each other, support one another, and develop new concepts together. Contrary to what one might think, competitive thinking is rarely found in this community – rather, mutual help, knowledge sharing, and joint development are the order of the day. This collegial structure is a real advantage, especially for new operators, because many already established teams share their knowledge and take on mentoring roles.

A perfect example of this is Escape Room Starters. Escape Room Starters isn't a typical service provider that merely sells finished products – the team sees itself as a platform and network for escape room founders and operators. Starters not only offer advice on building applications, financing, or room and story design, but also connect people, facilitate contacts and expertise, thereby truly acting as a bridge builder within the scene.

What makes Escape Room Starters so valuable to the industry is precisely this combination of experience and network: people who have been designing, building, and operating rooms for years share their expertise directly with others who are in the process of setting up or want to try out new ideas. This not only strengthens individual projects but also the scene as a whole – and ensures that innovative concepts and new formats can grow more quickly.

Escape Room Starters – much more than just „building rooms“

What many might not know: alongside running our own escape rooms, we also develop projects for other operators under the brand Escape Room Starters – whether they are established providers or new teams.

A current example is our work for Eloria when designing a funfair or even individual game and puzzle elements. And the people from Eloria have also lent us a hand on more than one project. That's how you strengthen each other in the scene!

And this will not remain the exception! We repeatedly build spaces, events, and mobile games for both smaller and larger providers – not as competition, but as a partnership. These projects often arise through exchanges with other creators, whom we meet at networking events, Trade association for live escape and adventure games or met through mutual contacts. They show: the scene thrives on us inspiring each other, supporting each other, and creating new things together.

Why the network is important – and what it means for you

In an industry that grows so rapidly and where creative concepts, technology, storytelling, and game mechanics are equally in demand, no operator is an island. Networks, but also informal connections between game directors, designers, and operators, ensure that knowledge flows quickly, mistakes happen less often, and innovative ideas are implemented faster.

For you as a maker, this means:

  • You can access a rich reservoir of experience and contacts.,
  • You are getting support exactly where it is needed,
  • and you will be part of a community that grows together instead of working against each other.

And this is where we come in: with co-developed projects, creative collaborations, and the joy of designing escape experiences for a wide range of formats – from classic rooms to outdoor games and beyond.
