The LarpCon is one of the most exciting events for live role-players. (LARP = Live Action Role Play) in Germany. Every year, LARPers, merchants, artists and organisers meet there to immerse themselves in fantasy worlds together. On more than 4,000 square metres of exhibition space, over a hundred exhibitors present equipment, props, costumes, armour and accessories for the LARP hobby. There are also workshops, lectures, shows and many opportunities to exchange ideas with the community.
For us, it quickly became clear: a convention focused on stories, adventures, and role-playing games is the perfect setting for an escape room.
An escape room in the middle of the exhibition
For our trade fair appearance, we've prepared something special. Instead of just running a stand, we've set up and operated a complete escape room during the fair.
Visitors could play our „Save Miner Kalle“ mining escape room – an adventure that plunges players into a dramatic underground rescue mission.
Teams had to find clues, solve riddles, and work together to rescue their missing mate. The scenario fit the atmosphere of the trade fair perfectly: after all, LARP is also about immersion, stories, and shared adventure.
Over 100 players – a real trade fair highlight
The turnout was greater than expected. More than 100 visitors played our escape room during the trade fair.
Many were already familiar with escape rooms, while others had their first experience with this format. The game was particularly exciting for LARPers:
- Solve a riddle
- experiencing a story together
- To immerse oneself in a role
All of these are elements that are characteristic of both escape rooms and live role-playing games.
For many visitors, our space became a small adventure in the middle of the trade fair – and thus a real highlight, which further enriched the event.
The perfect blend of LARP and Escape Room
The LarpCon is aimed at both experienced larpers and beginners who want to get to know the hobby. Exhibitors, organisers and community projects will be presenting everything to do with live role-playing – from costumes and props to new game concepts.
An escape room fits perfectly into this environment. Both formats thrive on people experiencing stories together and actively becoming part of an adventure. This is exactly why it has been shown:

Our trade fair appearance at LarpCon in Kassel was a complete success for us. With our escape room „Save Buddy Kalle“, we were able to offer over 100 people an exciting experience and at the same time show how well escape rooms fit into the world of live role-playing games. We are already looking forward to being back at future events – and perhaps building the next trade fair adventure for visitors.
